People do judge books by their covers. That's their job, but a good cover doesn't need to shout — it just needs to feel right.

That instinct comes from years working in editorial design and print production. From typography and layout to full jacket spreads and series work, the aim is always the same: find the simplest way of expressing what a book is, without getting in its way.

No book exists in isolation. On a shelf or in an online grid, it's surrounded by covers all competing to be noticed. The answer isn't to shout louder. It's to be clear, confident and right at first glance — something that stands its ground and draws the eye.
